Fielding –
We have really enjoyed staying at La Croix Gites for our first family holiday in France. We particularly enjoyed the pool, swimming in the lake and riding ponies.
Paula and Richard have been extremely helpful – answering questions via email to help us plan the trip and booking things for us whilst we are here. We don’t want to leave!!
(Child aged 6 – I really enjoyed all of this holiday, it was so much fun, I hope I can come again).

We have thoroughly enjoyed our July family holiday in France with our two young children. We have been able to find plenty to enjoy at the gite; in the pool; the play areas and in the beautiful countryside surrounding this idyllic spot. We have all adored playing and swimming in the Lacs de Haute Charente, and it has a relaxed, fun, friendly ambiance around here. Paula has given us all we needed to make this week really special. Thank you for a delightful stay. We are considering gathering the wider family for a summer holiday here another year!
Highlights: stable door on the gite, feeding the ponies, watching the koypu, pony trek around the lake, a trip to Dreamwork Alpacas, visiting the local boulangeries, parks, and enjoying the plentiful games and toys at the gite too.
Lessage –
Nous avons passé un séjour agréable. Par rapport à l’année dernière, le soleil a eu du mal a s’imposer. Nous avons de ce fait explorer la région. L’Aquarium a Limoges, La vallée des singes, La Rochelle et le Futuroscope valent le détour. Le soleil est enfin arrivé et les activités au lac ont fait le bonheur des enfants ainsi que les promenades à cheval. Bref, séjour parfait avec des hôtes sympas, discrets et efficaces.

4 étoiles, nous avons bien profité, piscine très propre, manque de materiels de cuisine, matelas un peu trop dur. Accueil très agréable, beaucoup de jeux pour enfants, beaucoup d’activité à proximité et maison très propre! Merci pour cet beau séjour.

We can’t remember feeling so relaxed and happy on holiday with our children (ages 3 and 7) in a long time! They’ve been able to be so independent here, playing in the play area, the play house, running around on the grass and splashing in the pool! Their swimming has really taken off here, thank you! We’ve loved the villa and our meals on the patio in the evenings and had several fantastic days at the lake – the paddle boarding and pedalo ride have given us lovely memories to take home. Thank you both again for such a memorable family holiday.

After coming on my sister’s hen do here in 2011, I always wanted to come back to these beautiful cottages. With my 2 kids and husband in tow, 12 years later – we came here!! What a joyous week we’ve all had. Paula and Richard have been such wonderful hosts, helping us out with recommendations of where to eat and lending us fishing stuff for the children. The kids have lived in the pool and games room, running free in the beautiful grounds. We enjoyed Base Nautique, hiring bikes, kayaks and paddle boards (the couple who run it are so friendly and welcoming). The market at Piegut Pluviers is a must, as is the Velo-Rail. But just hanging out at La Croix gîtes is good enough, just wonderful. We’ve had the best time! We will be back 🙂

Thanks for a lovely stay. We’ve enjoyed the pool and the facilities. We would recommend The Adventure Park and all the activities at the lake. Velo-Rail was great fun and the day at the Monkey Valley was really great. Our meal at Vieux Moulin was amazing and enjoyed by us all.

This has been a lovely relaxing visit – but we have also done some ‘culture’ with visits to Oradour and Cassinomagus. Our son has thoroughly enjoyed making friends with the other children and being able to “play out” until 10 p.m.!! Altogether super.

We all had a lovely relaxing last minute break here and from the moment of enquiring to leaving Paula and Richard have been very approachable and friendly with great recommendations of places to visit which we thoroughly enjoyed. We loved seeing Bramble the dog everyday and our little girl loved stroking her and the cats.
The region is breathtaking and we will miss driving through the little villages and beautiful fields. A great rustic hideaway.
Dunn –
We always said we would come back – it took us 10 years and a second child in tow, but we did!! Everything is as we remember it, and our memories of peace, relaxation, tranquility, friendliness and a children’s haven remain. 10 years ago we said a week is not enough and now we say it again! We’ve had a truly wonderful week away together as a family, and we will be back again (just not leave it so long next time)! 🙂

Had an amazing, relaxing time in La Croix, plenty of swimming in lake and pool. Enjoying the beautiful weather – sometimes too hot! (surprisingly) around 30°C-34°C. Paula & Richard were very helpful and made it a very comfortable stay 🙂 We will be back here again. Thank you from the Gilroys.

A fantastic place for an extended family get-together. We have enjoyed 2 weeks of wonderful facilities to keep young and old amused.
We loved the wild flower pastures with its butterflies, the frogs in the pond and the lovely jacuzzi that made swimming in cloudy weather very enjoyable.
We will be taking home lots of great memories.
