Welcome to La Croix Gites: for child friendly holidays in France!
La Croix Gites are a self-catering holiday cottage complex in the Charente, South-West France.
La Croix Gites has 5 gites for families from 2 – 30 people. It is set in 18 acres of private grounds with a large heated swimming pool, sauna and fun fishing lake. We are a mile away from the largest inland lakes in the region with beaches, bars and restaurants.
We have been offering kids holidays in France since 2003. We can arrange Baby-sitting and all cottages are safe for small children and toddlers. An extensive range of Baby and Toddler equipment is available on request (details here).
Our gites are spacious, comfortable and fully equipped for self-catering. There is an extensive range of activities to amuse kids (of all ages) and their parents both on site and nearby.
The minimum rental unit is a whole cottage (you cannot rent individual rooms) and accommodation works out between £20 to £26 per person/per night, according to season. See our Out of Season Breaks and July / August Holiday pages for price details.

La Croix Gites and their surroundings
Children can play in the in 18 acres of secluded grounds. Parents can watch from wherever they are. There is a games room with ping pong, games & toys. We also have an enclosed, shaded children’s play park, badminton, croquet & boules. There is English freeview TV, DVD, Hifi & Free Wifi in every cottage.
Activities near La Croix Gites
Enjoy the water sports and equestrian activities at the nearby Lacs de Haute Charente with sailing, caneoing, windsurfing, paddle boarding and pedaloes, pony trekking, mini-golf, sandy beaches, swimming & sun-bathing! Here you will also find restaurants & bars, including an English bar that also shows big sporting events on a large TV.
Play Golf, go mountain biking or fishing. Bungee-jump at the adventure park.
Discover the historic Gallo-Roman baths at Chassenon, visit the Rochechouart meteorite crater or follow the chateau route of Richard the Lionheart.

Martell Distilleries tour – Jarnac
The Martell distilleries tour is very interesting and lasts an hour, focussing strongly on Martell’s history, the distillation and grading process, finishing with a complementary drink for adults and face-painting for kids.
Horse-riding
There is a “Centre Equestre” at Pressignac within 2km of La Croix Spa, taking all-comers for hacks and lessons. With small shetland ponies for smalls, up to mature horses for adults. Open all year-round.
Easy to reach!
Easy by car – La Croix Gites are 5½ hours from Caen (Portsmouth ferry) or 9 hours from Calais (Dover Ferry). From more northerly UK ports, take the Zeebrugge ferry. Just 1½ hours further than Calais.
Easy by air – La Croix Gites are 45 minutes from Limoges airport. Ryanair flies seasonally to Limoges from Stansted, East Midlands, Liverpool, Leeds & Bristol. Flybe flies from Southampton.
Easy by train – The Eurostar from St Pancras via either Paris or Lille and TGV to Angouleme or Limoges takes 6 – 7 hours. But you will need a hire car from there. See our detailed Directions.
