Here you can sail and windsurf or just hire a pedaloe. There is <a href=\"https:\/\/lacroixspa.com\/sailing-kayaking-near-la-croix-spa\/\">river kayaking<\/a> nearby. Or you can go <a href=\"https:\/\/lacroixspa.com\/velorail-confolens\/\">Velo-Railing<\/a> &#8211; an old rail cart which you pedal up 14 kilometers of track to the nearby station where you can buy an ice cream and have a rest before heading back to your departure point (great fun!). There is also &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/lacroixspa.com\/acrobranche-massignac\/\">Acrobranche<\/a>&#8221; an adventure park suspended in mid-air! Your feet don&#8217;t touch the ground the whole time in the park. There is a zip wire, bungee jumps and rope bridges. At Angouleme there is an indoor swimming park (flumes, wave generators). There is an <a href=\"https:\/\/lacroixspa.com\/fun-park-bellevue-limoges\/\">amusement Park (Parc Bellevue)<\/a> at Limoges which is a great day out. At Poitiers, there is the magnificent <a href=\"https:\/\/lacroixspa.com\/futuroscope-poitiers\/\">Futuroscope<\/a> which is an absolute must.<\/p>\n<p>Animal Parks abound. There is <a href=\"https:\/\/lacroixspa.com\/vallee-des-singes\/\">Valley of the Monkeys<\/a> which is great &#8211; monkeys and gorillas separated from you just by water! It&#8217;s a great day out. There is &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/lacroixspa.com\/ile-aux-serpents-serpent-island-trimouille\/\">Island of Serpents &amp; Reptiles<\/a>&#8216;; Castle of the Eagles; and some <a href=\"https:\/\/lacroixspa.com\/parc-animalier-confolens-la-colline-enchantee-animal-park\/\">delightful smaller animal parks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you fancy Wine or Cognac, there is St.Sornin Vineyard and the <a href=\"https:\/\/lacroixspa.com\/martell-distilleries-tour-tasting-jarnac\/\">distilleries at Cognac<\/a>. For children there are activities such as face-painting and a train ride to occupy kids while the parents go on the tours.<\/p>\n<p>The place is steeped in history. We&#8217;re on the lip of the crater of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lacroixspa.com\/rochechouart-meteorite\/\">15th largest meterorite<\/a> to have ever hit the earth. 22km wide. The pre-historic <a href=\"https:\/\/lacroixspa.com\/grotte-de-villars\/\">caves of Villars<\/a> (complete with cave paintings) is just an hour away and well worth a visit. The Romans built one of Europe&#8217;s largest thermal baths just 5km away at <a href=\"https:\/\/lacroixspa.com\/the-gallo-roman-baths-at-chassenon\/\">Chassenon (Cassinomagus)<\/a>. Richard the Lionheart had a string of chateaux here. More recently the Limousin was at the heart of <a href=\"https:\/\/lacroixspa.com\/world-war-ii-memorials-around-chabanais\/\">resistance in World War II<\/a>, with the terrible evidence of the martyred village at <a href=\"https:\/\/lacroixspa.com\/oradour-sur-glane\/\">Oradour Sur Glane<\/a>, just 20km away.<\/p>\n<p>There are local markets, the famous Piegut-Pluviers market nearby and even shopping malls at Limoges and Angouleme.
